Bourn Hall has a unique place in the history of fertility medicine. The original Bourn Hall Clinic was founded in 1980 in Cambridgeshire, England, by Prof. Robert Edwards and Dr. Patrick Steptoe. Their work led to the birth of the world's first IVF baby in 1978. Prof. Edwards received the 2010 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for the development of IVF.

In the UAE, Bourn Hall Fertility Clinic is wholly owned by Mediclinic Middle East. Mediclinic bought 30% of the regional business in December 2018 and took full ownership in November 2021. The UAE clinics run separately from the UK clinic, with their own medical teams.

Location and Access

Bourn Hall's Dubai clinic is a standalone fertility centre on the 7th floor of Block C, Al Hudhaiba Awards Buildings, Jumeirah. It is not inside a Mediclinic hospital, although it is part of the Mediclinic group.

Hours (as listed on Mediclinic's Bourn Hall website, October 2026): Sunday to Thursday, 8am to 6pm; Saturday, 8am to 4pm; closed Friday.

Three things distinguish Bourn Hall in Dubai.

First, the heritage. The Bourn Hall name represents more than 40 years of IVF history. The UAE clinics are run separately from the UK clinic, so assess the local team on its own merits.

Second, accreditation. Bourn Hall says its Dubai clinic was the first standalone fertility centre in the Middle East to receive JCI accreditation, in July 2016. In October 2025, Khaleej Times reported that the Dubai clinic had been re-accredited for the third time, and that the Abu Dhabi and Al Ain clinics had received their first JCI accreditation. In January 2025, Gulf News reported that all three Bourn Hall laboratories had received CAP (College of American Pathologists) accreditation.

Third, the Mediclinic connection. As part of Mediclinic Middle East, Bourn Hall can refer patients within a large private hospital group, for example for maternity care or specialist input.

Success Rates

Bourn Hall does not publish success rate figures for its UAE clinics. Its FAQs note that UAE clinics are not required by law to report success rates to the authorities.
