Dubai Fertility Center is the government's dedicated fertility facility in Dubai. Here is what you need to know about it, including the practical details that matter most.

Overview

Dubai Fertility Center is a government fertility centre in Al Jaddaf, Dubai. It has been treating patients since 1991, which makes it one of the longest-running fertility centres in the emirate.

The centre was previously run by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA). It is now part of Dubai Health, the academic health system that took over the running of Dubai's government hospitals and health centres. Dubai Health's brand was launched on 11 November 2023. The DHA remains the regulator for healthcare in Dubai.

Dubai Health says the centre is dedicated to helping married couples on their path to parenthood.

Location and Access

Dubai Fertility Center is in Al Jaddaf, Dubai. Dubai Health lists it under its ambulatory health centres. The centre's 2022 service catalogue (the latest published) places it on the Latifa Hospital grounds, at Latifa Hospital Street and Al Zahrawi Street, with parking on site.

Al Jaddaf is accessible from central Dubai. If you live in another part of the city, factor in travel time for the frequent monitoring visits that IVF requires.

• Monday to Thursday: 7:30am to 3:30pm

Dubai Health's page lists no weekend hours. The 2022 catalogue mentioned a short weekend session (Saturday and Sunday, 10am to 12pm) for injections and procedures, so ask whether this still runs. These hours are shorter than at most private clinics, so plan monitoring appointments around work if needed.

The centre's 2022 service catalogue lists:

• IVF, ICSI (including ICSI for frozen eggs), IUI, embryo transfer and ovulation induction
• Male infertility procedures: TESA and PESA
• Genetic testing: PGT for aneuploidy (NGS), PGT for single gene disorders, HLA matching and gender selection. Some genetic testing is carried out through contracts with private-sector providers.
• Freezing of eggs, sperm and embryos, including for patients facing cancer treatment
• Laser assisted hatching, semen analysis and other laboratory tests
• Hysteroscopy and other gynaecological procedures, plus early pregnancy scans

What Makes This Clinic Different

Dubai Fertility Center is distinct from every other clinic on our Dubai list in one fundamental way: it is a government facility.

The biggest practical difference is the Al Amal Initiative. Launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, it offers complimentary fertility treatment at the centre for eligible people. Dubai Health lists the following as eligible:

• UAE nationals from all emirates
• Children of female UAE nationals
• Holders of decrees issued by the Emirate of Dubai

The centre also has long institutional experience. Having operated since 1991, its team has treated a very large number of couples. In 2022, Gulf News reported more than 32,000 patients and 5,300 births following treatment there.

Success Rates

Dubai Health does not publish a current success rate for the centre on its website. In 2022, Gulf News reported that the centre's pregnancy rate had consistently been above an international benchmark of 45%. That is a pregnancy rate, not a live birth rate, and no breakdown by age was given.

Cost Indication

For people eligible under the Al Amal Initiative, treatment at the centre is offered free of charge.

For other patients, the latest published price list is the centre's service catalogue dated February 2022, issued when it was run by the DHA. As of February 2022, it lists:

• IVF: AED 14,000
• ICSI: AED 18,000
• IUI: AED 2,500
• Frozen ICSI (second cycle) package: AED 11,000
• Egg collection for freezing: AED 9,000, plus AED 3,500 for egg freezing and the first year of storage
• PGT-A (NGS): AED 15,000
• Initial consultation: AED 500

All medications are excluded, as are extra blood tests, pregnancy scans and other procedures. These prices are more than four years old, so ask for a current quote. The catalogue says the centre serves UAE nationals, residents, expats, visitors and GCC citizens.

Insurance and Coverage

Dubai Health lists its insurance partners on its website. Coverage for fertility treatment depends on your insurance type and plan. If you are not eligible for Al Amal, check with both your insurer and the centre what, if anything, will be covered.

Required Documents

Dubai Health asks patients to call 800 60 for the latest document requirements before booking. The centre's 2022 catalogue listed:

• A copy of the marriage certificate
• Valid Emirates ID and passport copies for both spouses
• The family book for UAE nationals, or a copy of a marsoom (decree) if relevant
• For medical tourists, passport copies of both spouses and a copy of the visit visa

The catalogue also said that both spouses must be present for all procedures. Check the current list before your first visit to avoid delays.
